NORTH WEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) – Rescue teams have taken a 17-year-old girl and three 19-year-old men to hospital after police said they were shot outside an apartment complex in Brownsville, North Miami-Dade, in the Northwest.

Miami-Dade police and fire crews responded to the shooting near Northwest 58th Street and 25th Avenue at about 6:30 p.m.

Investigators said the victims were outside the complex when they were shot.

“At least 40 rounds were fired, and four victims were beaten,” said MDPD detective Angel Rodriguez. “The scene was very chaotic.”

7News cameras caught heavily armed officers at the scene while a police helicopter hovered above them. Officers were also seen searching with flashlights in a nearby garden.

Paramedics transported the victims to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Police said the girl and one of the male patients are listed in a critical condition. The conditions of the other two victims are unknown.

Officials are trying to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. It remains unclear whether the shooter was on foot or in a vehicle.

The scene remains active from 11pm as police continue their investigation.
