The ‘Mandalorian’ star was let go by Lucasfilm and dropped by her talent agency on Wednesday.

Senator Ted Cruz has become one of the most prominent conservative voices seemingly furious about firing Disney Star Wars actor Gina Carano.

The Mandalorian star was let go by Lucasfilm on Wednesday, one day after she posted an extremely controversial message on social media, with a spokesperson saying in part: “Her posts on social media denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identity are abominable and unacceptable. ” This was not the first time that Carano’s political positions had faced setbacks. She was also dropped by her talent agency, UTA, on Wednesday. The actor and former mixed martial artist has yet to discuss the matter in public.

After the news broke late Wednesday, those in Carano’s corner began using the hashtag #CancelDisneyPlus on Twitter, with a few screenshots sharing that they ended their subscriptions. The topic was the bulk of Thursday, the same day, Disney CEO Bob Chapek said on a earnings call that the company’s streaming industry reached 146 million paid subscribers, powered by Disney + and its nearly 95 million businesses.

So far, the Senator in Texas has been the most prominent voice Disney has blown for his decision.

‘Texan Gina Carano broke barriers in the Star Wars universe: not a princess, not a victim, not some emotionally tortured Jedi. She played a woman who kicked ass [and] to whom girls looked up. She was instrumental in making Star Wars fun again. Of course Disney canceled her, ‘ Cruz tweeted.

Carano played former Rebel Alliance soldier Cara Dune Mandalorian, an instant fan favorite. Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that there was even a plan that Cara Dune would have a stand-alone show, but that everything was scrubbed after Carano’s online behavior.

As for Cruz, he has made recent headlines due to his interaction with another Hollywood celebrity, Seth Rogen. The two men exchanged a number of fiery tweets in which the comic actor demanded that Cruz be blamed for his involvement in the January 6 uprising of the American Capitol, while Senator Rogen insulted his politics and actions.
