Dying Light 2 developer Techland has admitted to announcing the sequel ‘too soon’.
The permission comes to the developer teased it had a few words to share [fans] on the Dying Light 2 development process “, and more information will follow on Wednesday 17 March.
However, in a follow-up tweet further down the chain, Dying Light’s official Twitter account responded to a fan admitting they were “shocked” and wondering if the game was in a development hell.
“[As far as I know], the definition of a dev hell requires that the game make no development progress while DL2 continues, “says the answer.” We announced the game too early, but it’s far from a dev hell. “

Fans of Dying Light have been worried about the sequel for some time now, not least because Paweł Selinger, who worked as a ‘narration designer’ on Dying Light 2 for the past two years, left Techland at the end of 2020, after more than 22 years the company.
Dying Light 2 was announced during the Xbox press conference at E3 2018 by writer and designer Chris Avellone of the role-playing game, who later left the project after allegations of sexual assault.
During Microsoft’s E3 2019 press conference, Techland announced that Dying Light 2 would be launched in the spring of 2020, but in January 2020, Dying Light 2 was delayed indefinitely. In May 2020, reports appeared that Dying Light 2 was in a sorry state, although Techland pushed back.
More recently, however, a further blow came when a new report shed additional light on the troubled project, which claims that chaotic, unoriented development is being driven by an arrogant CEO. The news came weeks after the developer was forced to deny rumors that the Dying Light 2 developer had been taken over by an unknown third party, insisting that it remain an “independent studio”.
There is good news though; Details of an upcoming Collector’s Edition for Dying Light 2 have reportedly been leaked, suggesting that the game – which currently only features a nebulous “2021” release window – will be coming sooner rather than later.
