The former ‘Bachelorette’ says that Harrison’s announcement that he will be leaving the program indefinitely is ‘absolutely’ the right move.
As Chris Harrison remain the face of Bachelor Nation in previously recorded episodes of the franchise’s very first Black ‘Bachelor’ Matt James, his most recent Bachelorette weighs on his excuse and decides to step down from the franchise.
Tayshia Adams becomes only the second Black Bachelorette when she replaces Clare Crawley halfway through the latest season. On Thursday, she addressed Harrison’s recent defense of current ‘Final 4’ contestant Rachael Kirkconnell during a formal antebellum formation.

“His words have touched many people, you know, myself included,” Adams admits of her “Click Bait with Bachelor Nation” podcast with Natasha Parker and Joe Amabile. As such, she does believe that Harrison walking away ‘absolutely’ is the right thing to do at this time.
“I think he’s taking ownership and not just apologizing and then just going back to work the next day like nothing happened,” she said.
The reality star also broke down certain aspects of Harrison’s subsequent apologies and acknowledged the extent to which he defends his defense of racism, regardless of his intent to do so.
He said, “By excusing historical racism, I defended it,” which is the absolute truth, and the fact that he called it and owned it, and he acknowledges it, means a lot to me, “Adams said.

She goes on to investigate another statement Harrison made in his apology. “The fact that he said, ‘This is not just a moment, but a commitment to a much greater understanding that I will be active every day,’ also meant a lot to me, because it’s not just ‘ a moment, just as the Blacks live Matter is not just a trending topic on Instagram; it is every day that takes place and in which we must actively try to participate and better. ‘
Because of the way Harrison has chosen to fully acknowledge the mistakes he has made and promises to educate himself so that he can be a better anti-racist and ally in the future, it will really resonate with Adams. “It touched my heart a little more to know he actually meant what he was saying,” she said.
And that’s why she’s not one of those in Bachelor Nation who’s asking Harrison to be fired or end the franchise altogether. Instead, Adams says “we must allow people to prove us wrong and prove themselves.”

She knows a lot about second chances and what people can do in part with it because of her own relationship with the eventual winner of her season, Zac Clark. An addicted addict who ‘did a lot of wrong in a time I never even knew about him,’ Adams said. “He needed someone to give him a second chance to prove himself.”
Clark has certainly made the most of his own second chance at life, becoming a repair specialist and helping others find and embrace their own second chances.
For now, all the fans know that Harrison will not be appearing on Matt James’ “After the Final Rose” specialty. According to Tentative, the planning was that the next season of ‘The Bachelorette’ would start in March, shortly after the season of James ended.

The understanding at the time was that the coming season would be filmed like Adams and James’ experiences, mostly in one place with compliance with strict pandemic safety protocol. Although no Bachelorette has been announced, it usually happens with the “After the Final Rose” special.
Producers have not yet announced who will replace Harrison at the special offer, nor whether there will be an announcement about a new Bachelorette lead (even money is on this season’s Katie Thurston, if the current flood does not matter does not change) or what Harrison’s involvement may be at the beginning of her journey.
They can slow down production and then start when they and Harrison feel he’s ready to be the franchise again, or they can postpone it so he can be replaced more permanently, should that be the final decision. The next few weeks as James concludes his season should be very telling.
“The Bachelor” airs Monday at 8:00 PM ET on ABC.
