On “The Late Show” on Tuesday, Taylor Swift insisted that her 2008 song “Hey Stephen” is not about Colbert, although she seems to know a lot about the comedian.
And don’t be fooled by her Colbert-oriented vision board for the song; she says the tune was actually all about another Stephen.
“Do not flatter yourself. My song ‘Hey Stephen’ is no more about you than my album ‘1989’. “It’s about that year you waited for the afternoon shift at Scoozi, an Italian restaurant in northern Chicago, which by the way is a really amazing slice of pizza,” Swift said.
But Colbert did not have it.
“No matter how much you insist ‘Hey Stephen’ is not about me, I still get the strong feeling that it is,” he said.
Swift remarked that this was something he had to work through alone.
