Taylor Heinicke did not lead the Washington Football Team in the playoffs last night, but he played much better than most people expected.

Heinicke was only a month at Washington and was out of the league for more than a year before that, and yet he completed 26 of 44 passes for 306 yards. Afterwards, Heinicke said he thinks he has shown he has what it takes.

“I deserve to be in this league a little bit longer,” Heinicke said via ESPN. “On the other hand, I did not play and it is not nice, not as nice as this.”

Washington receiver Terry McLaurin agrees with the assessment.

“I take number 4 on my team every day of the week, twice on Sunday,” McLaurin said. “I hope we are teammates in the future. That guy plays with no fear. He is going to give his players the chance to make plays. He expands plays, he runs, he takes hits. He does everything you have to do in this league of a quarterback. He gave us a chance. ‘

Heinicke will become an unlimited free agent in March and he will have offers. He got a chance on a big stage and showed what he can do.
