Tampa Bay Buccaneers CB Carlton Davis tweets anti-Asian failure, apologizes

TAMPA, Fla. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ backline Carlton Davis sent a tweet on Sunday night containing an anti-Asian failure and has since apologized, saying he did not realize the term’s deeply hurtful meaning.

“Must stop leaving g —- in Miami,” Carlton wrote in the tweet that has since been removed.

Davis, 24, apologized in the following tweets for using the eclipse, saying he thinks the term means ‘lame’.

“I will never offend any group of people,” Davis said. wrote in a tweet accompanied by an image from an unknown slang dictionary entry. “You reporters can look for another story to blow up. The term is aimed at a producer who claims to be ‘driving Miami.’ our Asian family endures ❤️.

“I used a term that always came from ‘where I come from’, but I did not realize it had a much darker, negative connotation. I learned a valuable lesson and want to apologize for it. “Anyone who is offended by seeing the word, because in these difficult times we need to focus on helping each other.”

According to a report by the Center for the Study of Hate Extremism, hate crimes against Asian Americans have risen by nearly 150% in major U.S. cities over the past year, with several incidents making headlines in recent weeks.

Davis has spoken out against racism in the past and about his experiences as a black man. He is part of the Bucs’ council for social justice, which met with community leaders this past summer to discuss how police can build better relations with the Black community.
