Tales Of Arise Appears After A Long Delay With A New Trailer

Tales Of Arise was announced in 2019, and it was last delayed until 2021, in part due to development challenges posed by Covid-19. Now it looks like the Japanese action RPG is popping up again. There’s a new trailer below, with the promise that more will come this spring.

Arise’s story focuses on two warring planets, and its two protagonists are a male slave from the medieval world of Dahna and a woman from the technologically advanced world of Rena. These are the characters you see in the trailer above.

This is the 17th game in the Tales series, which started in 1995. The last entry was Tales Of Berseria, which we quite liked when it came out on PC in 2017. Our review praised his characters (while criticizing some of their outfits) and regretted his slow start:

“And it’s really a shame, because Tales of Berseria, despite its flaws, has many interesting stories to tell. If the developers cut the page and focused almost exclusively on the cast of characters – with a bit of fighting – would I think it would be a must-play.As I am, I think it’s still worth playing if you’ve a fan of story-oriented JRPGs, as long as you know you’re trapped for long term. characters like I’ve had to any group in a long time, and it’s worth enduring a few hours of pain for the fruits that come from it. “

I tend to reject JRPGs in their first few hours, but I still dream of someone getting my hooks in me. Maybe Arise is finally the one who gets me.
