Take 'photos' of the earth from space with Canon's 5D Mark III camera

With the interactive demo you can take photos of different places, with each recording showing the location and height of the image. However, it uses pre-recorded images so you don’t actually grab live or unique photos. If it were alive, CE-SAT-1 would travel nearly 17,000 miles per hour on Earth and orbit the world in just over one and a half. However, the demonstration gives you a feel for the capability and resolution of the satellite.

The experience is told by astronaut Marsha Ivins, who explains the purpose and design of the satellite. The microsatellites are much smaller and cheaper than ordinary satellites, and Canon hopes to build a billion-dollar business around them by 2030. Following the launch of the CE-SAT-1 in 2017, Canon attempted to launch an updated CE-SAT-1B. However, it was lost when RocketLab’s Electron rocket failed shortly after launch.
