Hello Google, is it okay? A few weeks ago, you posted a very strange video describing the basic Pixel phone migration process with a strange collection of meditation images and narrative in ASMR style. Now you’re back with this combination of phone migration intro to karate video. It feels like someone in the Pixel team really wants to go viral.
This video is much shorter than the previous one, which used its meditation atmosphere to cover the slightly tedious time it takes to transfer settings and files. This one fills the space with an Australian karate instructor teaching the viewer the basics of a martial arts block. Much more inexplicable is the bit about 30 seconds, where the hand model sticks a Pixel 5 in a banana.
You can definitely see it as an excavation at Apple – it is possible to do this with Google’s Data Transfer Tool. But because the cable on both sides is USB-C, I think it’s a quick and dirty attempt at valuable content. (Which I suspect works, since we’re reporting on it!) The narrator follows you up by recommending not using “1234” as their device code. Thanks, Google.
