Suspect killed after driving through Detroit crime scene and exchanging gunfire with police

DETROIT Detroit police are investigating a wild and deadly scene that took place Sunday night through Monday morning on the west side of the city.

On Sunday at 22:40, the police were called to the area of ​​McNichols Road and Ward Avenue where five people were allegedly shot. Police say the victims range between 18 and 36 years old and are all still alive.

At the same time, there was a car accident that left one man dead and another man in critical condition.

Detroit police say the two incidents are related.

While police were investigating, a man drove through the crime scene and hit an officer and fired shots from the vehicle.

The gunman drove away and police rushed him to the vicinity of Mile Road 8 and Gratio Avenue on the east side of the city. There, the subject apparently left his vehicle and started firing at officers again. Officials said officers fired back.

The gunman was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. His identity has not yet been revealed.
