According to a police report on the murder, officers found a woman and her two children with gunshot wounds at a house in 700 Jessie Street on Saturday afternoon, while they were responding to a medical emergency.
Two of the victims, a woman in her thirties and a girl in her early teens, were pronounced dead at the scene. A boy between the ages of 8 and 12 was rushed to hospital but later succumbed to his injuries, police said.
An officer had been home an hour earlier to conduct a welfare search after a family member from Tennessee called. But the woman said she was OK and did not want to call her family with the officer’s phone.
