Sunday Burquest – a former participant in ‘Survivor’ – died after having cancer.
The daughter of the youth pastor, Kennedy, confirmed her mother’s death on Instagram … posted a moving tribute on Sunday thanking her for teaching her to be a Christian and for being the best role model possible.
She writes … “It breaks my heart to know that you will never see me on my wedding day, or will be there when I have my first child. But I know that you are watching over me.” Kennedy further said that she is happy that her mother will be with Jesus, and that she does not have to be in pain anymore, and added … “I know we will meet again one day. Until then, I will miss you little , and try to make you proud. Rest assured mom, I’ll see you soon 🤍. “
Sunday earlier revealed that she had been diagnosed with esophageal and ovarian cancer – with a new iteration of the disease that re-infected her last summer … when doctors told her at the time that she only had months to live.
Before the latest diagnosis, she fought breast cancer in 2012 … and came out the other side after several surgeries and treatments.
Sunday took part in the 33rd season of ‘Survivor’ … called ‘Millennials vs. Gen X ‘, which aired in 2016. She made it pretty far, as she was the 14th person to be voted out and came in 7th place. Eventually she goes from one tribe with people mostly her age to the other tribe, full of 20 and 30 year olds, with whom she apparently did not gel so well.
Before she went on to participate, she was medically cleared after suffering from breast cancer – and was one of the feel-good stories of the season. She is survived by her husband and four children.
Sunday was 50.
