SUPERMAN & LOIS Series Premiere Review; “The Epic SUPERMAN series we’ve been waiting for”

Well, we certainly did not expect that. It’s fair to say we’ve gotten used to a certain tone from The CW’s DC TV shows, with the superhero being titular, surrounded by love interests, mentors, silly allies (here you look, Cisco), and a flush-and-repeat weekly villain with a big bad wait in the wings to be defeated in the final. It remains to be seen whether Superman & Lois succumbs to the familiar, clichéd outfits, but from now on this premiere of the series points out that the network from the Arrowformula, and the delivery of a movie, exciting new version of the Man of Steel.

After a fantastic summary that keeps us up to date with the history of the post-Crisis on Infinite Earth Superman, we’re coming to pick up Clark Kent, Lois Lane and their two teenage boys in Metropolis. However, a family tragedy takes them back to Smallville, and this hour-long opener does an excellent job of laying the groundwork for a new interpretation of Superman’s world, while making a movie with a big budget feel. The Man of steel inspiration is clear to see (we’m surprised Zack Snyder does not have an Executive Producer credit), but that’s not a bad thing, and what many people think is a great feeling about this iconic DC Comics character. in that movie is being replaced by the hopeful, optimistic Superman, many fans have been desperate to see on screen for years now. Jonathan and Jordan Kent have so far been by no means a disadvantage to the series, and although teenage drama may eventually lapse into the series, their story is currently just as compelling as that of their parents.

Tyler Hoechlin has been an amazing Superman since he first made a comeback in the country Super girl, but with stronger material to work with here, his work really rises. The same can be said for Elizabeth Tulloch’s Lois Lane, though we’d like to see in the future episode what makes her the greatest journalist in the world. While Jordan and Jonathan, Alex Garfin and Jordan Alsace are doing strong work, especially with the former, to watch. Honestly, there is not a bad performance in this premiere, and it helps that the cast does not meet silly wordplay, and does not meet scientifically inspired, unrealistic basics or walk the paths we expect from these CW shows. take.

From a visual perspective, Superman & Lois seems phenomenal. It feels like a series that the CW has spent a lot of money on, with the battle between the Man of Tomorrow and its mysterious new arch-enemy looking like something we can expect to see in a big superhero movie. Honestly, the show is better than it’s right to be, and while there seem to be no plans for Superman on the big screen for the foreseeable future, this show promises to fill the void nicely (and also on a weekly basis). basis)). Dan Romer’s score is perhaps the only part of this premiere that does not always work, as it does not consistently succeed in the epic action that takes place on screen. The big question from here is whether Superman & Lois can maintain this quality; at the moment we are happy COVID means that it will remain self-evident in nature, because it does not feel like it will benefit from Batwoman or the Flash that will work together in a team in Smallville, but it seems like the CW really something special has on his hands with what may eventually be the best DC TV show yet.

The epic Superman series we’ve been waiting for, the premiere of Superman & Lois is cinematic, bold and a step in the right direction for the Man of Steel, as The CW seems to make this character great.
