‘Superman And Lois’ Recap: Season 1 Episode 2 – Dark Ending Explained

Superman & Loisa second hour sheds some light on Clark’s new nemesis, while revealing potential darkness in a character we’ve known for some time.

Recently from the “Captain Luthor” jaw dropper, we learned that Superman’s war pattern blames him for the destruction of his home planet. And during a follow-up conversation with his ship (the Karen after his Plankton), he presented his mission in uncertain words: “We must stop Kal-El before he does to this world what he has done to me.”

And Superman is not the only character with whom this masked threat shares a history. “You must stop protecting him,” Captain Luthor told General Lane. “Where I come from, you’re like me. You do not trust him either, because you know what he is capable of. ‘

Captain Luthor’s ship tries to speak a sentence in him, explaining, ‘This planet’s Kal-El is not quite like the ones you encountered,’ but he’s quick to complain, train. The episode ends with a look back at his earth, where he and General Lane fight with a group of soldiers against a dark Superman, one who does not think twice about using his laser vision to scorch his human opponents.

Arrowverse Crossover PromoSo, how does this evil version of Superman differ from, for example, the one we met during the “Elseworlds” crossover event in 2018? According to Tyler Hoechlin, this would reflect the (somewhat) subtle changes that his own Clark then underwent. Superman & Lois became his own series.

“It’s still unfolding, so we’ll see exactly how it goes,” teased Hoechlin. ‘But in the same way as you can see from these first few episodes that [Superman & Lois is] not the other [Arrowverse] shows, it is fair to say that it will also unfold differently. It’s a familiar character, but it’s a new character at the same time. Just as the fans enjoy watching it come out, I will enjoy watching it unfold when the screenplays come out. ‘

But while he can’t provide details about his Superman’s evil doppelganger, Hoechlin says he’s fascinated to discover what could have caused such a significant change in an otherwise benign superhero.

“It’s always interesting when you have a character like this who is so shameless in his commitment to do good and to do the right thing,” Hoechlin says. ‘What’s his breaking point? What is that tipping point? What is the specific thing that makes such a person finally say, ‘No, I’m not doing this anymore’? Every bad guy is the good guy in his own story. To me, the curiosity is always ‘What has changed?’ I am very curious to see where the story goes and in what it develops. ”

Superman & Lois Jor-ElElsewhere in the morning … Lois quit her job at The Daily Planet after refusing to express her screaming opinion about Morgan Edge, she gave a concert under editor-slash plumber Chrissy Beppo at The Smallville Gazette; Jordan learned (from a no-nonsense hologram of Jor-El at the Fortress of Solitude) that he might never be able to utilize his inherited Kryptonic abilities; and Jonathan suffered the wrath of his new football teammates, including Sarah’s still angry boyfriend.
