Super Smash Bros. Ultimate announces new fighter coming in March

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate‘s next fighter has been announced by Nintendo.

From 2017’s Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Pyra and Mythra will be added as a double character next month. They fill the fourth of the six slots Fighters Pass Part 2, and will also be offered for sale separately if you do not want to buy the full pass.

Footage from the latest Nintendo Direct stream shows how Pyra and Mythra alternate at random so the player can leverage their individual strengths.

Pyra is able to use fire-based moves such as Flame Nova, Prominence Revolt and Blazing End, while Mythra’s light-element attacks include Photon Edge, Ray of Punishment and Foresight.

Pyra and Mythra also have slightly different Final Smashes.

The addition of the duo to the list will be accompanied by a new stage taking place on the back of the Titan Azurda, as well as a variety of music tracks Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

Pyra and Mythra are not the first characters from the Xenoblade franchise to play in Smash Bros, with Xenoblade Chronicles 1‘s Shulk was already under the cast of characters.
