Super Nintendo World opens in Universal Japan on March 18

Following a major delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Universal Japan’s Super Nintendo World opens on March 18. The grand opening of the Nintendo theme will also kick off the celebration of Universal Japan’s 20th anniversary. This news comes less than a week after the announcement that Universal Orlando’s version of the Super Nintendo World will only be launched in 2025.

Super Nintendo World is a unique theme park. Not only is it the first park to use Nintendo characters and settings, but it also has a special “Asobi” experience that allows fans to “play” in the park by virtually collecting coins, keys, stamps, and other items collect – by hitting the question mark blocks, of course. The park then becomes its own kind of game, with guests comparing their scores and recording their progress with Power-Up Bands and smartphones on the pulse.

The park currently has two rides, one to Mario Kart and another theme around Yoshi, Mario’s companion / dinosaur. Late last year, Nintendo dedicated a miniature, real Nintendo Direct to the new park. The park features all kinds of spectacular Mario-themed food and food, which you can take a closer look at via the digital walkthrough on the Nintendo World website.

With Super Nintendo World almost here, the real question now becomes: when will it be safe for me to get my hands on that Mario pancake sandwich?
