While we already know what we can expect from amiibo features in Nintendo Switch games, it’s always nice to know exactly what’s going to happen if it’s scanned in a certain game.
In the case of Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Wrath, it’s a game divided into two different adventures.
To an amiibo in Super Mario 3D World, you should bring up a little amiibo symbol and then scan your figure. Here is the full explanation, courtesy of Destructoid:
“Use amiibo in Mario 3D World The section is very straight: you keep to the left on the d-path while playing to address the amiibo symbol when you are on a level, and then scan. 99% of the figures create random startup or a 1UP mushroom.“
As already stated on the official game website, Cat Mario is invoking an invincible White Cat suit, and Cat Peach can create random startup work – but apparently has no “special” functionality.
In the new add-on adventure Bowser’s Fury, the “two main characters” for this mode are Bowser and Bowser Jr., and “all others will call random power consumptionAgain, keep left on the D-Road to search for numbers. Here is the complete overview of the source:
“The use of Bowser at the amiibo NFC point will immediately wake up Fury Bowser from his sleep. Although it is normally a danger that must be managed and avoided, it is an appeal to Bowser, as certain walls / obstacles can only be destroyed by Fury.Bowser’s abilities. So if you need him to go to a specific area immediately, you do not have to wait for him.We have tested several Bowser amiibo, and figures such as wedding Bowser will also perform the same functions. “
“Bowser Jr. is also special, allowing you to unleash an explosion of different kinds. You can not spam it, because it has a cooling off: there is not much more to it!”
It is noteworthy that the Bowser and Bowser Jr. amiibo is not classified as unique / special in Super Mario 3D World.
