Sunday night’s Philadelphia 76ers-Oklahoma City Thunder game postponed

The NBA game in the Philadelphia 76ers-Oklahoma City Thunder was postponed Sunday night due to contact detection in the Sixers.

The game was postponed according to the league’s health and safety guidelines, as the 76ers did not meet the minimum roster requirement of eight players.

The contact search is related to Saturday’s loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Grizzlies named Jonas Valanciunas for Monday’s game against the Phoenix Suns as the center entered the league’s health and safety protocols. The Grizzlies played the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday before their game was postponed Friday due to contact detection within the Wolves. Karl-Anthony Towns announced Friday that he has tested positive for COVID-19.

The Sixers have been battling a postponement for more than a week after guard Seth Curry tested positive for COVID-19 on Jan. 7. They played the Nuggets on January 9 with only eight players.

They used just nine players in Saturday’s loss and six were listed on their injury report. Two were out due to health and safety protocols (Curry and Vincent Poirier) with Joel Embiid (knee), Furkan Korkmaz (groin) and Mike Scott (knee) sitting with injuries. It will release six other players on Sunday due to contact detection.

The Sixers will host the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night.
