Sundance: Apple Nabs ‘CODA’ for $ 25 Million Record

Emilia Jones leads a cast that includes Eugenio Derbez.

Apple exercises rights to Sundance drama CODE of writer-director Sian Heder, according to sources in a $ 25 million deal.

The title, presented in the American Drama Competition, follows Ruby (Emilia Jones) is the only hearing person in her deaf family. When the family’s fishing industry is threatened, Ruby is torn between the love of music and the abandonment of her family.

Eugenio Derbez, Troy Kotsur, Ferdia Walsh-Peelo, Daniel Durant and Marlee Matlin also star.

Philippe Rousselet, Fabrice Gianfermi and Patrick Wachsberger produced the movie, starring performers Ardavan Safaee and Sarah Borch-Jacobsen.

CAA Media Finance and ICM Partners negotiated the agreement on behalf of the filmmakers.
