James Murdoch, the youngest son of Rupert Murdoch, publicly attacked “media property owners” and newspapers for their role in promoting false election claims that led to the deadly riots in the U.S. Capitol last week.
In an interview published by the Financial Times on Friday, Murdoch said that the siege of the Capitol, which resulted in five deaths, is proof that what we thought was dangerous is very, very similar. ‘
“The outlets that spread lies to their audience have unleashed insidious and uncontrollable forces that will be with us for years,” the latest Murdoch said according to the FT. “I hope the people who did not think it was so dangerous now understand it and that they stop.”

Murdoch did not name any specific news outlets, although Fox News – the company owned by his father and eldest brother, Lachlan – has previously been criticized for failing to make unfounded claims of voter fraud after the 2020 election, first led by President Trump was made.
His comments are the strongest reprimand in the industry since he decided last year to break up the family media empire.
Murdoch announced his resignation from the board of directors of News Corp in July. The multinational media company owns several U.S. newspapers, including the Wall Street Journal and the New York Post.
In a statement at the time, Murdoch said he chose to leave “due to disagreements over certain editorial content published by the company’s news agencies and certain other strategic decisions.”
According to several news reports, James and his wife, Kathryn, were ‘frustrated’ with the News Corp and Fox news report ‘on climate change as veld fires tore through most of Australia last year.
Murdoch’s youngest son has since drawn attention to his foundation called Quadrivium, which according to his website aims to promote initiatives on democracy, voter participation and climate change, among other things.
In a separate statement published after the FT interview, Murdoch and his wife wrote: “The spread of disinformation – whether about the election, public health or climate change – has consequences in the real world.”
‘Many media property owners have just as much responsibility for this as the elected officials who know the truth but would rather spread lies. We hope that the horrific scenes we have all seen will eventually convince those who make it possible to reject the toxic politics they once promoted. and forever, “they added, according to CNN Business.
