“I feel relieved.” This is how Simon Tuesday’s winter final of Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist after a tumultuous and festive delivery in which the marketing manager struggles with the consequences of calling out SPRQPoint for their racial prejudice and lack of diversity.
After a difficult conversation with his friend / boss Zoey (get more insight here) and the revelation that employees in the many global offices of SPRQPoint share his feelings, Simon achieves a victory: the management of the company is committed to invest in BIPOC – owned businesses and diversify its leadership positions.
“As we move forward, we see Simon move through the implementation of what happened at SPRQPoint,” actor John Clarence Stewart, who plays Simon, told TVLine. ‘The leadership position changes in a way, and we see how he does the job, which I think is really important. … My hope is that as we move forward, we are still moving through what we dug up [Episode] 6, because the truth is, and I think we all know it, transformation is not born in a moment. Transformation is a process that takes place over time, and process is not something to run away from. It is something to be recognized and honored. ”
When the series resumes its second season on March 28, viewers will also discover “what the dynamic is between Zoey and Simon” after their hampered journey in this week’s episode, Stewart says. Although the season has begun, Simon has ‘Are You Gonna Be My Girl?’ Singing. for Zoey, which is now the most important, is no possible lingering romantic feelings of Simon. ‘It’s such a split of a moment that happens in [Episode] 5 and then everything that happens in [Episode] 6. I think what we found at the end of [Episode] 6 is their friendship and their commitment has survived and in some ways is very much alive, ”shares Stewart. That said, I do not think the feelings have been completely evacuated, but I do think things have changed. I think Simon has changed. I think Zoey has changed. They have both been through a lot [in] the first episodes of this season, let alone before. So it will be interesting to me who they are now and how their friendship develops at the end of the people. [Episode] 6. ”
Meanwhile, Simon spent a lot of time with reporter Tatiana and went to her for advice – but are the two officially going together? “I’m going to leave the real, vague,” Stewart replies with a hearty laugh, before adding, “I think their relationship do deepen and has deepen. Regardless of their relationship, Simon and Tatiana can say that they shared an unforgettable dance. As for Simon’s solo of Michael Kiwanuka’s “Black Man in a White World,” Stewart is collaborating with guest choreographer Luther Brown (So you think you can dance) for his character’s powerful dance moves. “The beautiful thing about Luther there is that we talk in the same way as I talk about what’s moving through me,” Stewart shares. So the immediate thing that came to my mind was, ‘OK, it’s like ancestors are going up, and I’m connected to this thing that’s moving me. Am I moved? Or is something moving me? What’s going on? ‘ And he’s like, ‘Yes, the ancestors move you and move forward just like that.’ ‘
Stewart adds: ‘It was phenomenal to work with [Luther]. He was instrumental in mining and finds what [all] the numbers became, and also gave me the freedom to create within the choreography, and the freedom to embody and explore and truly work together. ”
