The number of casualties due to the news of an embargo on Haitian migrants in the waters of the Colombian municipality of Acandí, located in the Caribbean coast and frontier in Panama, means that the authorities are looking for three missing persons.
The Alcaldía de Acandí details that the victims are a woman who is pregnant, an adult, a girl of 6 years and a minor of 2, while the people who have not been married are a man, a woman and a baby of 7 meses.
During the rescue operation, carried out by the National Army, new people were evacuated.
“Unfortunately, we have a nuisance from the failure of transgender migrant people of Haitian nationality. In the embargo, 16 people are being transported between them,” said Sandra Julio, secretary of the Government of Acandí, a self-governing municipality of the municipality.
The official account is that the partition of the municipality of Turbo, in the former department of Antioquia, and that the migrants Iban were taken to Capurgana, an aldea that had part of Acandí, to cruise “the Tapon del Darién to get to “Panama and continue on our way to the United States”.
“We have a lament for the National Government, this is not a new case, its cases that are constantly occurring in our territory”, added Julio.
The Alcalde de Acandí, Alexander Murillo, said that “the persons conducting the detention were detained at the Capurganá Police Station”.
This hecho was recorded on the 28th of January 2019 when 19 African migrants were killed in the flooding of an artisanal embassy in the Caribbean very close to the ancient Capurgana River, in which Bahia Pinacorra is located and which is part of the Municipal.
The tragedy is focused on the attention of a group of investigators and taxpayers who, with the support of the Colombian Migration and Immigration and Control Service of the United States (ICE), identified and provided to all members of the Red involved in the deaths of migrants.
Thanks to the investigation, which included testimonials, as well as physical and technical evidence, the Fiscalía ordered the detention of persons who were accused of being part of a gang, who were caught in Capurgana and publications.
