Study shows that vaping THC can be more dangerous to teens’ health than vaping nicotine or smoking

A new study shows that vaping THC can be worse for teens than smoking weeds or cigarettes, or evaporating nicotine.

The findings from the University of Michigan indicate that adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17 are at risk for lung injury symptoms, such as developing a dry cough or wheezing, which can interfere with sleep, speech, or exercise. According to Carol Boyd, co-director of the University of Michigan’s Center for the Study of Drugs, Liquor, Smoking and Health, it is unclear how long such symptoms can last.

‘We found that, and this was something that surprised us a little, that it was the lifelong vape of cannabis that was accompanied by a much greater number of symptoms and a greater likelihood that each of these symptoms was than to e- cigarettes or cigarettes, ”Boyd was quoted as saying by US News. In this case, ‘lifetime’ refers to any previous use.

The data disputes the common belief that smoking cigarettes or evaporating nicotine is worse for your lungs.

‘I think the industry probably wants to show that the vaping of e-cigarettes is healthier, that it is the cannabis vaping that is causing these breathing symptoms, not the e-cigarettes. It is not true. “Evaporation of e-cigarettes also causes symptoms among the youth,” Boyd said. “In our study, however, and when we considered their use of e-cigarettes, we found a greater chance that these breathing symptoms were present among young people who developed cannabis.”

Cannabis vaping has become more popular in recent years and has been linked to a series of lung diseases and deaths before the COVID-19 pandemic. The CDC discovered that the culprit was linked to vitamin E acetate, which was “used as a cutting agent in e-liquids containing THC,” Bloomberg writes.
