Storm likely caused ‘widespread’ delays in transporting vaccines, says CDC

According to the CDC, FedEx facilities include Memphis, Tennessee and Louisville, Ky. It is unclear how many vaccine doses are affected by delays in shipping, but officials from many states have said they expect delays, including Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota and Texas.

Kris Ehresmann of the Minnesota Department of Health said health care providers in the state may have to reschedule appointments due to the delays.

Meanwhile, a number of cities across the country, including Chicago, Memphis and Dallas, have closed vaccination sites due to the winter storms.

The news comes when Biden’s government announced on Tuesday that it would increase the allocation of vaccines to states by 23 percent, from 11 million doses to 13.5 million.
