Steve Kerr had to physically stop Steph Curry to chase three record during Warriors-Thunder

Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry hit 11 three-pointers in just 29 minutes of action against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night and apparently a chance to beat teammate Klay Thompson’s NBA record for most three-pointers in a game (14).

Curry was removed from the standout victory late in the third quarter and saw him try to enter the game again before being grabbed by head coach Steve Kerr and taken back to the bench.

“He wanted to go back,” NBC Sports noted play-for-play announcer Bob Fitzgerald. “He’s not happy.”

Kerr explained after the game that he was giving Curry the opportunity to return to the game, but the guard did not detect the sarcasm.

“I was actually joking with him,” Kerr told reporters. “I told him he was going in again. He did not understand the joke. He just wanted to run on the floor again. That was how hot he was. ‘

When Thompson set the NBA record against the Chicago Bulls in October 2018, he actually settled it from Curry, who scored 13 tries during a game in November 2016. Curry remarked on Wednesday that he thinks Thompson’s record is ‘achievable’.

“Absolutely,” Curry said when asked if he was thinking of breaking the record. ‘I was joking with some of the guys tonight because I remember Chicago and [Thompson] did it in three quarters … His quarter of 37 points is still crazy because I had 25 [in the third] tonight and it looked like I was invincible out there, and this guy had 12 points in the same time. So it was crazy itself. And the 14 tries. I had 11 and felt I could not miss it. I think it’s available, but we’ll see. ‘
