DJ Steve Aoki and his Dim Mak record label and fashion brand chatted with Capcom about some cool street fightertheme items: a countertop arcade, a piece of clothing and even a remix of the theme song for street fighter icon Ryu.
The arcade box at the top, which you can see at the top of this post, allows up to two players to play four different Capcom games together: Street Fighter II: World Warrior, Street Fighter II: Champion Edition, Super Street Fighter II Turbo, en Final battle. The cabinet is manufactured in partnership with Arcade1Up and is the first two-player starter kit the company has made.
In addition to the sleek art on the cabinet, each is signed by Aoki. But if you want to get your hands on it, you need to act fast as there are only 30 units available. The box costs $ 199 and will ship in May.
There is also a line of street fighterinspired clothing. You can see the entire collection on the Dim Mak website, and we’ve included some photos in this gallery.
The remix of Ryu’s theme song, titled ‘Ryu’s Theme (The Moe’s Pizzeria Steve Aoki Remix)’, is not out yet. It will be available on February 19, but you can now save it in advance on your choice of streaming services. I haven’t heard the remix yet, but look forward to seeing Aoki’s iconic song.
According to a press release announcing the collaboration, Aoki was a major street fighter fan grow up, every day after school to a local pizzeria to play the game. That love for the series definitely points to the cabinet and the clothing collection.
And Aoki’s head? “Ryu,” he said in an email The edge. (I can not say that it is surprising, given Ryu’s respect for many of the equipment.) ‘I always chose him when I was a kid when I played obsessively. Street Fighter II. “He represents the strong, iconic, Japanese warrior hero I always wanted to be,” Aoki said.
