Stephen Colbert mocks Trump’s ‘incredibly sad’ and ‘pathetic’ statement about Covid-19 vaccine

The TV host addressed the statement on Thursday’s episode of him Late show.

In the message released earlier this week, Trump wants to take credit for the Covid-19 vaccine and says “[hopes] everyone remembers when they got the injection that “if I were not president, you would not get that beautiful ‘shot’ in the best 5 years, and probably would not get it at all either”. Trump then repeats, “I hope everyone remembers.”

Colbert read the statement aloud and then said, ‘In the first place, it’s incredibly sad. Second, pathetic.

‘Thirdly, how did we even find out? He can not tweet this stuff. Did he just squeeze it out and staple it to telephone poles around Palm Beach? He would have just as well released: ‘ex-prez will get credit and teach you guitar.’ ‘

Twitter announced in January this year that it had permanently banned Trump from using the service after the riot in Capitol.

Referring to the move, Colbert wondered: “We banned him from Twitter. Can we ban him from paper, is that possible? ‘

President Joe Biden has announced plans to order all states, tribes and territories to be eligible for the Covid-19 vaccine by May 1.

He said that it was his goal to get the country “closer to normal” by 4 July 2021.
