The Steam Game Festival is back, and it brings together hundreds of demos on interesting computer games (mostly from indie creators). The Steam Game Festival started in late 2019 as a Geoff-Keighley spearhead with The Game Awards, but since then they have become a regular thing, and this latest version seems to be the biggest yet.
As mentioned, the Spring Steam Game Festival features over 500 free game demos, which may seem surprising, but I picked a few interesting ones to get you started …
Loop Hero (2021)
A new approach to the roguelike with which you can plan your adventure with an ever-growing pack of cards, while having an endless loop of adventure. You decide where to set the risk reward balance. Download the demo here.
Do not forget me (TBA)
A colorful retro adventure game in which you unravel a mystery by exploring the memories of the subjects. Download the demo here.
Genesis Noir (Q1 2021)
Man, how to explain this one? Genesis Noir is a deceptive adventure game that depicts the big bang that created the universe as a stylish, black-and-white noir detective story. Yes. I have no idea how it will play out, but I do have points for originality. Download the demo here.
No place for bravery (2021)
A stylish action RPG for pixel art with intense battles, and a dark, bloody world and story. Looks pretty metal. Download the demo here.
Echo Generation (2021)
One part RPG, one part a ‘click’ adventure game with a fun retro atmosphere reminiscent of Earthbound and Stranger Things. Add a sleek “elevated Minecraft” visual style to the mix and you have a game that really stands out. Download the demo here.
Almighty: kill your gods (Coming soon)
Hunt for monsters, gods and other bad things, harvest their body parts and use them to create equipment and expand your home base. Play solo or with friends’ cooperative style! Download the demo here.
The tear breaker (2021)
A heavy arcade action festival reminiscent of Housemarque’s games, but with additional RPG, base build and survival elements. Download the demo here.
Of course I just scratch the surface! Watch the full series of demos here. The Spring Steam Game Festival runs until next Tuesday (February 9)
