The big moment has finally arrived for console players of the hit game Stardew valley. Creator, ConcernedApe, has finally introduced the long-awaited version 1.5 update.
“Stardew Valley 1.5 Update for Switch, Xbox and PlayStation Not Available”
If you have not kept up with our Stardew Valley coverage, version 1.5 includes a new beach farm, advanced game options and more. You can see the full change log in our previous post, but be warned: it may contain spoilers.
We also have a pamper-free overview of what to expect (notes based on the computer level). ConcernedApe previously said version 1.5 is “by far the largest solid piece of new content added to the game since its launch.”
New game options
If you are considering launching a new storage file for this update, there are some new creation options:
- There is a new farm called ‘Strandplaas“. It is large, with good fishing and feeding opportunities, and the chance of scarce supply crate washing up on the shore. But there is a catch … most of the farm is covered with sandy soil that prevents you from using sprinklers (they are clogged with sand). If this is your first time playing Stardew Valley, I highly recommend trying one of the other farms for a more classic experience, but if you come back for another play-through, Beach Farm can give your experience a slightly fresh (it also has a unique look).
- There is a new ‘Advanced game optionsButton at the bottom left of the character menu. From here, you can choose from a variety of options to customize your playback. For returning players, I recommend trying out the ‘remixed’ Community Center bundles, which randomize the bundles you get, and add brand new items as well as variations of the original articles. Mixing the mining reward can also be upsetting … it adds random variety that you can get out of the mining crates.
- Make sure you have the new hairstyles at the end of the hair list.
Split screen (local) collaboration
To play a split screen, build a cabin (from Robin’s) for up to three other players participating (if you are starting a new game, you can also choose to place huts at the beginning in the advanced game options menu) . . Once the booths are there, open your menu, scroll down to multiplayer and select “Start Local Collaboration”. The other players can now join by pressing on a controller connected to the computer. Check the option tab in the game menu to adjust the zoom level and UI zoom level to a setting that works well for you. Otherwise, the split screen works exactly the same as the online multiplayer.
An outdoor list of some of the new features you can expect:
- New people to meet
