Stardew Valley is now a board game

If you’ve ever played Stardew valley and thought hey, running a farm looks really nice, i want to do it without any manual labor, today is your happy day. The hit indie farming game has been adapted into a successful board game, and it is currently available.

The surprising announcement was made by developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone on the Stardew valley website. In it, Barone notes that he has been working with board game designer Cole Medeiros for more than two and a half years to adapt Stardew valley‘s cozy blend of manual labor, rural life and friendship with tabletops, and the result looks just as charming as the digital game. There is even a trailer:

According to the store’s page:

Stardew Valley: The board game is a collaborative game where players work together to restore the Valley. They achieve this by growing crops, raising animals, expanding their farms and raising resources from across the Valley.

By making friends with the locals, players earn hearts that allow them to reveal hidden goals. Only by working together will they prevent Joja Corporation from moving in and spoiling everything.

Barons also warn Stardew Valley: The board game is ‘not a short, comfortable game’, emphasizing that he wants it to have the same level of complexity and adaptation as the original game – so much so that he shares the rulebook online for anyone who’s not sure if it’s good does not fit for their table. With that reservation out of the way, cardboard Stardew seems just like a charming way to keep the hours away like his digital brother or sister.

Stardew Valley: The board game is now available through the Stardew Valley Shop.
