A new trailer for Star Wars: The High Republic has been released.

The trailer was released at the end of a live-stream event involving writers The High Republic and is told by a female Jedi, who gives an overview of The High Republic‘s overarching story. “Our order was meant to let its light shine in even the darkest corners of the galaxy,” she says. “There we found an evil for which none of us practiced – threatening everything we know.”

Images are shown of the Jedi struggling with various enemies, including the plant-like Drengir and the intergalactic poachers known as the Nihil. A list of publishers was also revealed in the trailer, including Marvel, IDW and even VIZ Media.

Star Wars: The High Republic takes place 200 years before the events of The Phantom Menace. At the height of their power, the Jedi Knights come into play when a disaster strikes at the newly launched Starlight Beacon station. The High Republic also inspired the Disney + series The acolyte, developed by Russian doll creator Leslye Headland. The acolyte was described as “a mystery thriller that will take the audience into a galaxy of shady secrets and budding dark forces in the last days of the High Republic era.”

Star Wars: The High Republic begin Charles Soule’s Light of the Jedi, for sale January 5.
