Star Citizen Squadron 42 misses beta window, has no release date

Another year will pass with no sign of Squadrons 42 of Star Citizen manufacturer Roberts Space Industries.

RSI revised its project charts on December 23, citing a Squadrons 42 beta, and founder of RSI and Star Citizen creator Chris Roberts told the donors of the project that they should not expect any release or end dates for the game anytime soon. RSI’s most recent guidance on a Squadrons 42 The launch took place in August 2019 and said a beta will appear in the third quarter of this year.

Squadrons 42 is a single-player, story-based campaign that spans the universe of Star Citizen, the spaceflight and first person shooter MMO that has been in development since 2011. RSI split Squadrons 42 and start selling it separately from Star Citizen in February 2016; it was part of the original Kickstarter campaign in October 2012, giving 2014 as the original delivery date.

Squadrons 42The Hollywood cast of the A-list, including Mark Hamill, Gillian Anderson and Gary Oldman, was unveiled in October 2015. RSI has 2016 as the launch year for Squadrons 42‘s full release, but withdrew that prediction from CitizenCon in October 2016 and has not given a full launch date since.

In the note to donors, Roberts said ‘Squadrons 42 will be done when done, and will not be released just to make an appointment. He also said that RSI would show nothing of Squadrons 42‘s game, locations or assets “instead of a beta, because the game is too far from a full launch to launch a marketing campaign. “If we were to show the non-spoiler game now, it’s the best footage and game that could have been used closer to release,” Roberts said.

‘That’s why I decide it’s best not to show Squadrons 42 play publicly, and also discuss no release date until we are closer to home and have confidence in the remaining time needed to complete the match to the quality we want, ”Roberts added.

Star Citizen has raised more than $ 339 million in crowdfunding from nearly 3 million fans since its original Kickstarter in 2012. These figures are reported by Roberts Space Industries itself. That means it raised more than $ 77 million in 2020 alone, surpassing the 2019 record of $ 47.7 million. Roberts Space Industries also picked up a separate, private investment of $ 46 million from a billionaire record label at the end of 2018.

Most of Star CitizenThe financing comes from the sale (or rental) of spaceships in the game, many of which cost hundreds of dollars. Star Citizen is currently in alpha version 3.12 of his “Persistent Universe”; Roberts Space Industries stopped giving estimated release dates for the full version of PU in 2016.

In November 2019, developers announced that they were building a combined weapon multiplayer mode for 40 players called ‘Theaters of War’, and they hope to deliver it in early 2020. It is in a closed alpha test, with no beta or full launch date.

“Meantime, Star Citizen is the best visibility of the game and technical progress we make; ‘you can download a new update every three months with new features and content, as well as advances in technology,’ ‘Roberts writes. ‘I hope you will be so involved Star Citizen that Squadrons 42 will be here before you know it. ”
