The Stadia app for Android has received an update of version 3.2, which includes another tease from Project Hailstorm and progress towards voice chat, Android TV and more.

This morning, the Stadia app for Android started updating version 3.2, a major leap from the previous version number 2.52. Although the update itself does not seem to be obvious, Google has been working on a number of projects and improvements below the surface.

Voice chat
One of the most important missing features of Stadia for Android is that there is no ability to join parties or use voice chat in the game. Stages 3.2 continues to work on voice chat in Android, including work to offer separate volume levels for voice voice chat and party chat.

More specifically, this would mean that you can have a fair amount of volume at party chats, while voice chat in games offered by games like Destiny 2 stays at a much lower level.
Android TV
On the Android TV front, Google has included some internal “flags” – switches used by app developers to test features before launching them, or even to launch new features at some point after an update is being fixed – related to Android TV.

Languages from right to left
Last year, Stadia expanded to a new range of European countries, including Austria, Hungary and Portugal. Stages 3.2 make a very small change that could indicate a new set of languages and regions gaining support for Stadiums.
Stadia specifically stated ‘Android: supportsRtl’ as true, which means that the app should now be one step closer to supporting left-to-left languages such as Arabic, Hebrew and Urdu. Of course, much more work will have to be done before any of these languages or their regions are properly supported by Stadia.
Stages 3.2 also contains an interesting error message indicating that a promotion will take place sometime in the month of July.

56k Modem Kneeling
With Stadia version 2.52, Google has included some ridiculous text in the app, referring to the ability to stream games over a 56k modem connection – something that is literally impossible. Stages 3.2 takes the gag a step further, sharing that the 56k modem support can provide ‘the ultimate gaming experience’.
Stadia used the latest transmission technology from Amplitude Modulation to deliver the best gaming experience.
It should be interesting to see how this particular gag unfolds, presumably on April Fool’s Day 2021.
