Spring, Texas: At least 6 CenterPoint Energy employees hospitalized after natural gas explosion and fire

Olivia Koch, spokeswoman for the company, told CNN the incident took place at Gleannloch Farms, near Spring, Texas.

According to a post on Twitter through the Harris County Fire Brigade office, investigators were called to a possible gas explosion and fire, and based on initial reports, it appeared crews in the area had hit a natural gas line.

Officials evacuated residents from the area and set up a 500-foot perimeter around the scene, according to another report from the HCFMO.

In addition to injuries, at least one house was damaged in the fire, according to the Marshal’s office.

Electrical service was also interrupted for about 800 customers in the area due to damage to some electrical equipment, Koch of Centerpoint said.

Crews from CenterPoint Energy will begin repairs to repair the service to both natural gas and electricity customers affected by the incident once the scene is safe, she added.
