Nintendo announced during the Nintendo Direct launch on Wednesday with the ink-powered ink-franchise shooter Splatoon 3. The first trailer of the game did not offer much detail, but only a few pieces of play and pieces of storytelling. However, fans have caught on to a significant change in Splatoon 3: Nintendo apparently eliminated gender language when choosing a character. Instead of asking players to choose a boy or girl who wants Inkling Splatoon 2 do, Splatoon 3The creator of characters simply gives players the option to choose their “style”.
The short cut we saw Wednesday of the creation set-up featured other options, such as skin color, hairstyles and a variety of Splatoon’s distinctive, fun streetwear.
The wording delighted Splatoon fans on Twitter, and many of them remarked that Splatoon had officially eliminated the concept of gender itself.
Many have expressed excitement about how inclusive the change is, and are developing fans’ theories related to the change and the color scheme of the game. For example, some tweets noted that the colors in the logo are the same as those in the non-binary pride flag.

This is not the first time fans of the game have asked for Splatoon. Many fans were convinced that Pearl and Marina, the faces of Splatoon 2, went out.
Splatoon is not the only Nintendo franchise that eliminates gender choices. Animal crossing: new horizons use similar language and ask players to choose their “style”.
