Fan artist Oscar Romero has created an older version of Miles Morales, with The Mandalorian’s Giancarlo Esposito as inspiration for his work.
Giancarlo Esposito is best known for playing villains, from Gus Fring Break bad to Moff Gideon on The Mandalorian. Now, a new piece of fan art has finally put him in the role of a hero, specifically Marvel Comic’s Miles Morales.
Artist Oscar Romero recently posted his illustration on Instagram, with Esposito in Morales’ iconic red and black Spider-Man suit. “New painting! Giancarlo Esposito as old Miles Morales. I painted this painting nicely and I am very pleased with how it turned out. It would be great to see Giancarlo Miles play as an older Spiderman,” Romero wrote the post .

This illustration is not the first time fans have seen a look at Old Man Miles. Miles Morales: The End # 1, from current Miles Morales: Spider-Man Writer Saladin Ahmed and artist Damion Scott also walked decades ahead to showcase an older Morales. There, an elderly Miles Morales – who happened to be the mayor of Brooklyn – kept the peace with his super-powered friends and companions.
Morales’ character was created in 2011 by Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli. Miles gained notoriety in his solo series and the animated film of 2018 Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. Miles will also play in the next generation match in 2020 Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
Directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, the sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse arrives in theaters on October 7, 2022.
