Specialist’s headquarters in London hit by fire

LONDON (BRAIN) – The headquarters of Specialized Bicycles in London were badly damaged by a fire that broke out on Saturday night.

“Over the weekend we were informed that a fire had hit our UK headquarters,” a company spokesman told BRAIN.

“Luckily no one was injured, but unfortunately the fire had a devastating effect on our offices. Although there will be some short-term changes in certain business operations in the UK, our warehouse is located elsewhere and therefore our operations are for riders and retailers. “is not affected. We are working closely with the authorities to understand more about what happened.”

Canyon Bicycle and GoCycle, the UK e-bike brand, also have offices in the same business park as Specialized in South East London, but there are no reports that one of the two businesses’ building has been affected.

About 45 specialized staff typically work at the office, but most work remotely due to COVID-19 restrictions. The office had both office space and a small warehouse space, but the company said the warehouse space is not used to store inventory. Stock is kept in an outside warehouse, the company said.

According to the London Fire Brigade, 12 fire trucks and about 80 firefighters fought the fire. According to the LFB, a warehouse was destroyed.

“Firefighters deployed a drone to provide an aerial view of the fire and used aerial devices while working to bring the fire under control. There were no reports of any injuries,” the LFB said.

Station Commander Neil Guyett, who attended the scene, said: ‘Firefighters showed up to locate a well-developed fire and worked hard to bring it under control during a prolonged incident. There was thick smoke all over the business park. ‘

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the fire brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service. “The fire was presumably accidental, but the cause was recorded as indefinite,” LFB said.
