We have seen a limited edition of amiibo in the past, but this Monster Hunter Rise these are perhaps just the rarest.

7-Eleven convenience stores in Japan unveiled this “limited” and “special edition” gold amiibos set to celebrate the launch of Capcom’s upcoming Nintendo Switch release.

The catch – because there is always one – is that you can not buy the set. You see, it’s actually part of a prize pool.

Anyone in Japan who buys a download card for the game between January 25 and April 11 earns automatic access to a special lottery, and one of the prizes happens to be this amiibos set.

According to the official Capcom PR, the designs (above) are just concepts – with the right version of this golden amiibo to be announced in the near future. There is also no word on how many sets will be available.

We think it will be very valuable in the coming years. If you are really desperate, you can always spray paint a standard set.
