MADRID – Spanish police said on Sunday that they had discovered the first workshop using a 3D printer to manufacture illegal firearms in the country.
Police said one person was arrested in Tenerife in the Canary Islands after being linked to the clandestine workshop, where the suspect allegedly made assault weapons with 3D printing.
In addition to the printer, agents also seized the components for 19 weapons made from 3D printing, various knives, chemicals that could be used to make explosives, and ‘objects with white supremacist symbols’.
The joint operation was carried out by the National Police and Treasury Office in Spain.
