Sources – San Francisco 49ers, Trent Williams agrees to $ 138 million deal making him the highest paid OL in NFL history

Trent Williams and the San Francisco 49ers have reached a $ 138 million, six-year deal that will make him the best-paid offense in NFL history, sources told ESPN’s Dianna Russini.

The deal, which was agreed early Wednesday morning, guaranteed $ 55.1 million and includes a $ 30.1 million bonus, sources told Russini.

The Niners are also seeking an agreement with Alex Mack, a free agent, Russini said.

Williams, widely regarded as the best available free agent this season, also discussed matters with the Kansas City Chiefs and Chicago Bears, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

But Kansas City signed Joe Thuney and Chicago signed Germain Ifedi, paving the way for Brown’s historic deal to return to San Francisco.

The 49ers traded for Williams on the third day of the 2020 NFL draft, sending a fifth-round pick and a 2021 third-round pick to the Washington Football Team.

When they joined the Niners, they agreed to add a clause to his contract which meant they could not mark him this off-season. Williams, 32, stabilized the position on the left in place of retired Joe Staley. He started 14 games and in the process returned to his previous Pro Bowl form.

It all came back in Williams’ first season after sitting all year in 2019 when he had a dispute with Washington over handling his injury issues and his contract.

At the end of the season, Williams maintained that he hoped to sign at San Francisco again, but also admitted that he wanted to see what a premiere branch could get on the open market, as players in his position of that caliber rarely did. so far. in free agency.

Since Williams entered the league as the No. 4 overall in the 2010 draft, Williams has started 133 games, with eight Pro Bowl berths and a second All Pro team in 2015.
