Source: California lifted stay-at-home orders Monday

California will lift local home orders across the state on Monday, sources told The Chronicle.

A source close to the governor’s office confirmed that the state plans to end the stay-home order Monday, and move the provinces back into the framework for reopening based on colored levels. It will no longer be strictly linked to the number of beds available in intensive care units.

With the increase in the post-holiday boom, the availability of ICUs in the regions that remained below the stay-at-home order from Sunday is expected to rise to above the 15% threshold that caused the closure. measures. That is why, according to the source, the Newsom government decided to lift the restrictions.

Provinces will move back to the call system to determine how to reopen. Most regions in the state are expected to move in the press level, meaning restaurants can open up for outdoor services, and personal grooming services, such as hair and nail salons, can reopen with changes.

News of the possible change began circulating Sunday night after the California Restaurant Association sent a letter to members saying the news had been received from Newsom’s government that the stay-at-home orders would be lifted. Several members passed the letter on to media, including The Chronicle.

The decision comes more than six weeks after the Bay and almost the rest of the state has been placed under strict stay-at-home orders due to the explosive spread of the virus in late November and early December.

Although the order was across the country on December 3, it was not activated unless ICU projections dropped below 15%. As a result, the northern provinces of the state were never affected. Most Bay Area provinces voluntarily went into the exclusion state on December 6th. On Sunday, however, the Bay Area’s ICU capacity was 23.4%.

More details on the decision are expected to come Monday morning.
