Source: 49ers plan to send three representatives to Trey Lance training session

The 49ers will be fully represented Monday during the second quarter Trey Lance’s second pro day in Fargo, North Dakota.

Lance, who played colleagues in the state of North Dakota, is one of the quarterbacks the 49ers consider with the overall No. 3 in this month’s draft.

General Manager John Lynch, head coach Kyle Shanahan, and quarterback Rich Scangarello, will attend Lance’s pro day in North Dakota state, a source told NBC Sports Bay Area.

The same three 49ers representatives attended quarterback Justin Fields quarterback Justin Ohio last week.

Lynch and Shanahan also traveled to his Alabama full-back Mac Jones on March 30 during his second pro day in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

The 49ers moved from number 12 overall to third place in a trade on March 26 with the Miami Dolphins. The 49ers selected first round concepts from the Dolphins in 2022 and ’23, as well as a compensatory choice in the third round in 2022.

Backs Trevor Lawrence of Clemson and Zach Wilson of BYU are expected to be the top two picks of the Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets, respectively.

The 49ers will likely opt for the overall number 3 under Lance, Fields and Jones.

Jimmy Garoppolo has been the 49ers’ starting quarterback since the last five games of the 2017 season. But he has missed most of the past three seasons due to injuries.

Lance is an excellent double threat quarterback who intercepted 28 touchdowns and none in 2019, while also rushing for 1110 yards and 14 touchdowns. He appears in just one game in 2020 because the North Dakota state has cut their fall soccer season short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
