For all the amazing work Samsung has done Android 11 goodies spread to a whole bunch of new and old high-end smartphones around the world over the past few weeks, the heavyweight champion of major software updates is still not the same for his best midfielders out there.
That makes Sony’s latest OS promotion pretty special, en route to the mid-range Xperia 10 II while speaking in select Southeast Asian countries. While we obviously can’t compare the sizes of these two businesses ’mobile product portfolios, it is certainly impressive to see that this 2020-released 6-inch device with Snapdragon 665 processing power follows in the footsteps of the high-end Xperia 1, 5, 1 II, en 5 II so fast.
Natural, Sony made a promise almost two months ago to start delivering these goodies to this device ‘from the end of January 2021’, but we’ve seen so many times how many Android device sellers break these kinds of promises. that it is almost surprising if a company actually goes through without any delay.
Similar to the four other Android 11 updates introduced so far on Xperia phones, the latest collection of UI tweaks, performance improvements and security enhancements scales less than 1 GB. It means Sony keeps its own optimizations to a minimum, and it pleases the so-called purists who for some reason are not happy with the Pixel merchandise manufactured and sold directly by Google.
Speaking of sales, it’s worth remembering. Xperia 10 II was never officially released, unlike the original from 2019 Xperia 10. The 6-inch Snapdragon 630-powered oldie, by the way, will probably be the next in line for an OTA Android 11 upgrade, though we still have no idea when Sony might be able to pick up the delivery.
Meanwhile, the Xperia 10 III may see the light of day at some point by the end of next month, with Android 11 likely to use the software, and also the the same old extra long 6-inch screen on tow and three undoubtedly improved cameras hit on his back.
