The Sony WF-1000XM4 true wireless earbuds have popped up, and they seem to have a brand new design that is more similar to the ear rest. According to XDA Developers, a gel Reddit image by user Key_Attention4766 suggests that the headphones retain the same matte black and gold-assessed aesthetics as before.
A leaked image of the box reveals some interesting specifications. The Sony WF-1000XM4 retains active noise cancellation, which we saw from the famed Sony WF-1000XM3, offering six hours of playback on a single charge with 18 hours of extra time. The box also contains the Hi-Res Audio (Wireless) certification stamp, which may be an indication of LDAC support.
This leaked image confirms nothing, but it is safe to assume that the Sony WF-1000XM4 will include true wireless earbuds noise-canceling like the Sony WH-1000XM4. Other features such as better battery life are appropriate for the course. We also expect to see updated Bluetooth firmware – perhaps Bluetooth 5.1 – and an IP waterproof rating.
With the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro, Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2, and of course, the Apple AirPods Pro, Sony has enough competitors to fend off in true wireless space. This story is in progress, and we’ll update you as more information comes to light.
