As TechCrunch suggests, the launch may indicate an improvement in Sony’s supply chain, allowing the technology giant to release the console in a new region. Jim Ryan, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, confirmed shortly after the PS5’s US debut that the device was completely sold out. He said the shortage would happen regardless of COVID-19, but that the biggest problem caused by the pandemic was pre-production due to travel and other restrictions. ‘Everything is sold. “Absolutely everything is sold … I spend a lot more time trying to increase supply to meet demand,” he revealed.
