Sony is offering ‘Ratchet and Clank’ PS4 for free, no PS Plus required

Sony offered free games and other entertainment last spring to help PlayStation gamers through the early COVID-19 pandemic, bringing the campaign back for the last few months of unlocking (Hopefully? Please?). The revived Play At Home effort is offering free between March and June to warm up social distance as the weather warms up, and the first giveaway is huge. You will receive a free copy of Ratchet and Clank for PS4 between March 1 at 23:00 ET and March 31 at 23:00 ET, no PlayStation Plus subscription is required – the generally well-received action adventure you can save for posterity.

The company has not yet given full details of what will happen, but Funimation (plus its European counterpart Wakanim) will offer ‘extended access’ to its anime service for new subscribers from March 25. More free games and entertainment offers are currently being predicted.

This is not just an altruistic gesture. A free copy of Ratchet and Clank effectively serves as a promo for Tear apart‘s PS5 debut in June, for example. We also would not expect too many recent games or lengthy media contracts. However, it can help you feel better when you are stuck on a beautiful day.
