Last week, Roger Craig Smith – the voice of Sonic the Hedgehog for more than ten years – announced his departure from the role.

This is, of course, a discussion about who the next Sonic voice actor might be. Many years-long fans have even appealed to Sonic the Hedgehog voice actors to return, and it looks like someone especially his agent has already had to contact Sega.

The man we’re talking about is Ryan Drummond. If the name does not ring, he is the most famous in the community because he pronounced Sonic in the original Dreamcast outings Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2. He is also later in games like Sonic Adventure DX: Director’s Cut and Sonic Advance 3.

Drummond confirmed during a recent live stream that his agent had reached out to Sega. This was revealed in response to a question about his possible return:

“I wish I could [say ‘yes’], but we still know nothing. You know as much as I do … We do not want to get a little stuck with this topic of conversation, but I have no problem … to tell everyone … my agent still contacted SEGA today, so there will hopefully be a conversation. And we’ll see what happens next. There are many different factors that people do not even realize are at issue here. ‘

While this will undoubtedly be for a lot of exciting news, the question is whether Sega wants to hire someone again for such an iconic role. Want to see Drummond portray his role as Sonic? Let us know below.
