Some popular media votes to ban conversion therapies

Popular senators Juan Zaragoza and Migdalia González affirm that they voted in favor of the Senate Project 184 to ban conversion therapies in Puerto Rico, a practice considered by mental health experts as a denial of their sins.

Human rights activist Pedro Julio Serrano urged the Senate popular delegation to “educate” about its conversion therapies and its effects on practice modalities. Serrano reiterates that “practices are common, cruel and inhumane”.

“It seems that three popular senators have expressed opposition to banning conversion therapies, even if they use the false arguments of fundamentalist groups. These therapies are against the health, welfare and security of children and young people in Puerto Rico, ”the activist said. “The popular ones have the right to tell the story and vote to ban this infantile disease,” Serrano said.
