On Sunday, two of the best backs of all time meet in Green Bay. Then two of the best young backs in the NFL will meet in Kansas City.
Most will say that Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is currently the best in the game. Some who know the game and study it thoroughly, ask themselves if Josh Allen, the Bills’ back player, has caught up with Mahomes.
Simms and I spoke separately in the line, based on Allen’s incredible improvement in 2020. And the point that is often made is: there is a difference when it comes to seeing Allen act in person.
Size, speed, agility, accuracy. Incredible speed as he throws. Incredible ability to jump to one side and throw the other side.
Mahomes still has undoubted talent, and he will continue to be one of the best in the game as long as he plays. But Allen has also reached that level and he is not even 25 yet.
Allen has the chance to convince many others that he caught Mahomes on Sunday. Even if the Bills lose, it will be a clear comparison between two of the best young backs who have ever played the game.
